The quality of
neighborhood life, its safety and welfare comes
from the commitment of each of its citizens. The
McKinley County Sheriff’s Office takes pride in
its role as a citizen of the community,
providing and delivering quality law enforcement
services.
We, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, dedicate our full-time efforts
to the duties incumbent upon every community member. As we act, we will
be ever mindful that our authority derives from those we serve, the
citizens of McKinley County and the State of New Mexico.
We, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, accept with honor, our law
enforcement mission to serve our communities with the enduring belief
that in so doing, we serve ourselves. As professionals, we view our
responsibilities as a covenant of public trust, never to be compromised
to any citizen due to race, religion, national origin, political
affiliation, sex, or any other reason inconsistent with sound
constitutional practices.
Our success and effectiveness will be gauged by the reduction of crime
and fear in our county and the level of respect the citizens have for
our efforts. The following principles shall be our guideline as we
strive to accomplish this all important mission.
We will strive to maintain a professional organization that provides
public safety, law enforcement and humanitarian services, and in doing
so we, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, will uphold our obligation
to safe guard the constitutional rights of all people.
We will base our decisions and actions on sound ethical and practical
reasoning and will accept responsibility for the consequences. We will
seek guidance from the citizens in helping establish the most prudent
course of action to maintain community order.
As we test new ideas we will remember our obligation to maintain the
physical health of the organization through the wise assignment of our
resources. We will never tire of our duty and obligations, never run
from a difficult task and never lose sight of our own humanity.
