County Commissioner - District III
Tony Tanner was born in Durango, Colorado but raised in Gallup, attending Gallup Public Schools and graduating from Gallup High. He is a graduate of Wyoming Institute of Technology.
Mr. Tanner currently serves on the board of Greater Gallup Economic Development Committee, local advisory board of U.S. Bank Corp, Wrangler National Jr. High Rodeo Finals Host Committee, and as a member of the New Mexico Amigos Goodwill Ambassadors.
A fifth generation trader employed at the family owned business, T&R Market Inc. since 1972, Mr. Tanner has a keen understanding of the multi-cultural aspects in our community and the business acumen necessary to be a good steward of public monies.
Goals & Priorities
Although he represents the smallest district in total area, Commissioner Tanner recognizes the need for road improvements throughout the county for quality of life, emergency services, and to enhance the economic flow of area residents to the city of Gallup.
Commissioner Tanner’s priorities include economic base development, improved delivery of human services, increased quality of life, and overall improvement in communications between all governmental entities: local, state, tribal, and federal to create synergies which will directly benefit all constituents of McKinley County.
Outside of work, Mr. Tanner enjoys spending time with his wife shooting, fishing, and a multitude of other outdoor activities our area has to offer.
