Finger Printing / Background Checks


The Sheriff's Office has full time administrative assistants assigned to processing fingerprints and County background checks. Each employee is trained on the current equipment and processes to accomplish these tasks.

Monday- Friday
8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
*Our office is closed on County recognized holidays 

Registration


Registration prior to finger printing is necessary. Please register online using Gemalto Cogent.

Fees


Department of Health Applications: $73.30
Law Enforcement Applicants: $8.30
All Other Applicants: $44.00

Requirements


Please bring in your:
  1. Registration ID number
  2. Payment (if not paid for online by credit card or by the agency requesting prints) MONEY ORDERS ONLY IN CORRECT AMOUNT made payable to 3M Cogent
  3. One form of VALID PHOTO I.D. (State issued DL, State Issued ID, U.S. Passport, U.S. Active duty/retiree/reservist Military ID with Photo, Government Issued Employee ID card with photo, Tribal ID card with photo.

Additional Information


The Sheriff's Office can no longer process out of state fingerprinting cards. Anyone needing to be fingerprinted for any agency outside the State of New Mexico will need to go to the McKinley County Adult Detention Center located a 255 Boardman Dr. Gallup NM, 87301, with a $10 money order made payable to the McKinley County Adult Detention Center and a Valid Photo ID is required. You must bring your own fingerprinting cards. 
*The McKinley County Adult Detention Center only conducts fingerprinting on Wednesdays, 2:00 pm thru 5:00 pm.

FINGERPRINT CARDS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED. All prints must be submitted electronically.
