Finger Printing / Background Checks
Finger printing consists of 4 full time employees. Each employee is trained to conduct fingerprints and background checks for the public as well as outside agencies.

Department of Health Applications: $73.30
Law Enforcement Applicants: $8.30
All Other Applicants: $44.00
Please bring in your:
- Registration ID number
- Payment (if not paid for online by credit card or by the agency requesting prints) MONEY ORDERS ONLY IN CORRECT AMOUNT made payable to 3M Cogent
- One form of VALID PHOTO I.D. (State issued DL, State Issued ID, U.S. Passport, U.S. Active duty/retiree/reservist Military ID with Photo, Government Issued Employee ID card with photo, Tribal ID card with photo.
Anyone needing to be fingerprinted for any agency outside the State of New Mexico will need to bring a $15 Money order made payable to the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office and a Valid Photo ID is required. You will be given fingerprint cards. You DO not have to register on line for out of State finger print requests.
Federal Background Check $15 bring your own cards.
FINGERPRINT CARDS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED. All prints must be submitted electronically.
